Medical Officer

About the Role

We are seeking General Practitioners to provide primary healthcare services within Correctional Centres, working alongside experienced nurses, allied health professionals, and support staff. These are structured, multidisciplinary environments where your clinical expertise will be highly valued and well supported.

Locations include:

• Southwest of Melbourne – 45 minutes from the CBD
• Western Victoria – (2 hours from Melbourne)
• Central Victoria – Castlemaine region (90 minutes from Melbourne)

Previous correctional health experience is not required. We are looking for doctors with a strong clinical foundation, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to delivering quality patient care.

Availability

Shifts are available from July with flexibility across weekdays and weekends.

Pick up as many or as few shifts as you like, with flexible scheduling options available across multiple locations to suit your lifestyle and current workload.

What You’ll Get

• Excellent hourly rates:
• $150 - $200/hr – Medical Officer
• $180 - $210/hr – Senior Medical Officer (FRACGP/FACCRM)
• Doctors with MATOD certification will be eligible for the higher end of the pay range
• Travel reimbursement – 88c/km for regional travel
• Full support – We manage credentialing, logistics, and compliance
• Stable hours – Most shifts run between 9:00am–5:00pm

What You’ll Need

• Current AHPRA registration
• RACGP Fellowship (preferred, not essential)
• OSTP approval (required for some dates – we can assist)
• Medical indemnity insurance
• At least 3 years post-grad experience
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Experience in mental health, emergency medicine, or AOD is a bonus—but not required.
• Complete full credentialling as per client requirements - includes WWCC and FIT2WORK police check.
